Today is Saturday and I feel LAZY!!!! I didn’t go for a walk today but I did get up early, so I went anyways. For breakfast today we had porridge with ginger. I don’t know why rice makes me so happy but it does.

Today is hotter than tolerable. We made hanging mobiles for their new place. The girls are really creative.

So it is 4 scoops of coconut ice cream with one scoop sticky rice in there and condensed milk poured over the entire thing. Yummmmmm!

We were on our last roll of toilet paper so I asked Rahel if she wanted to go for a wall to buy some. I felt like after that ice cream I needed to go for a walk.

I learned from Laura that all the girls are sponsored except for Uyi. She had a sponsor but then the sponsor did not renew. If you are interested please go on the website www.cosasia.org and look under sponsorship. This shelter cannot operate without everyone’s support.

I wandered around the land and found Esther and Rahel picking up old tiles to make mosaics.

Walked over to check on the chickens. They look fatter today… Probably just my imagination.

Mickey and his team came back from the hill tribe. There was a raid at a brothel so they were involved with the rescue of 21 young boys and girls.

They took pictures and got their age. I was originally assigned to the project of going to the hill tribe until I changed it to stay here. Mickey and the guys were eating dinner and we were all drinking and talking about what happened etc… I was asking a lot of questions to Mickey about what happened and just whatever questions came to mind. He asked if I would like to join him when he goes back to the hill tribe for one night to talk to the victims(survivors). He will have to take multiple trips to the hill tribe in order to find them permanent homes and whatever counseling is needed. His focus is on getting them to attend school in November. Right now, they are sleeping in the school. In order to protect the current girls at COSA, they can’t just bring the victims here. Mickey will work with them to get the victims ready for school, provide  food and shelter and whatever is needed to notify their parents. COSA is amazing and the people here are courageous and resilient, I don’t know how they do it.

Later that evening I tried a sip of whiskey. I felt like fire could come out of my mouth. Yikes.

Tomorrow, I go to Chiang Mai Sunday night market. Possibly will stay in a Korean guesthouse that I looked up online.
