Padmasana Sirsasana

New Years Day! The start of a new year. I had a slight headache from the fun filled evening counting down to this day the night before. My friends and I went to a cabin in Wrightwood for one night on New Years Eve. We had a blast, too much fun.
I had listed a few pose options but I figured a headstand would be the best option because I was feeling a bit err… hungover.
Instead of the lotus in supported headstand, I decided to take an easier approach and do the tripod headstand. Tripod headstand was the first headstand I learned and the easiest for me.
The cabin was warm which helped. I quickly took my head down to the ground and lifted my knees to my triceps. The hard part about having no yogi friends or instructors around is that although I think I may be aligned I had nobody to really observe my positioning and guide me. I lifted legs up and bent my left knee taking the left foot to the right hip crease and bending my right knee and sliding down the foot to the left hip crease for lotus pose or padmasana in Sanskrit.
I stayed here for a few breaths and quickly switched the crossings of my legs to even out the pose. The photo above, I should have had my wrists directly underneath the elbows (should have pulled the wrists closer to my body).
Below is a picture of my doing supported headstand with lotus legs sometime in the summer of 2015.
